Overview

MANN was engaged to undertake the careful deconstruction of heritage-listed elements at the Seafarers site, home to the last remaining original electric crane. The project required meticulous planning and execution to ensure the preservation of significant structural components while maintaining environmental compliance.

Solutions

Working closely with a state heritage consultant, MANN methodically dismantled and catalogued over 2,200 heritage bluestone pavers, 20 heritage steel trusses spanning over 23 meters, and drilled out over 3,500 rivets. Each component was carefully labeled with a custom-made steel tag, enabling seamless logging and identification process.

To prevent reverberations and structural impact during dismantling, custom-engineered supports were installed to counteract any structural reverberations that could impact the integrity of the structure.

Maritime environmental controls were implemented, providing comprehensive protection to the parallel river.

Outcome

Successful preservation of all heritage elements, ensuring seamless reinstallation for future development.

Zero environmental impact on the parallel river, adhering to strict maritime control measures.

Project delivered on time and within budget, maintaining MANN Group’s reputation for excellence in heritage-sensitive demolition.
